 Peter Denies Jesus
                        Jesus is Brought Before Pilate
    3.2.2
A servant girl recognised Peter and said, “You were with Jesus of Nazareth.” “I don’t know what you are talking about,” replied Peter. And he went out into the passage and the cock crowed.
“He is one of them!” said the girl. But Peter denied it again. Later, the bystanders accused Peter again, “You cannot deny you are one of them because you are from Galilee.”
“I swear I am telling the truth. I do not know the man,” replied Peter. The cock crowed a second time and Peter broke down and cried.
They put Jesus in chains, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate. Pilate questioned him: “Are you king of the Jews?”
Jesus answered, “So you say.”
The chief priests were accusing Jesus of
many things, so Pilate questioned him further, “Aren’t you going to answer? Listen to their accusations.” Jesus refused to say one word, so Pilate called to the crowd, “Do you want me to free the king of the Jews?”
They replied, “Give us Barabbas!”
“What do you want me to do with the one you call the king of the Jews?” asked Pilate. “Crucify him!” they shouted.
“Pilate asked, “What crime has he committed?” “Crucify him!” they shouted.
Pilate wanted to please the crowd, so he set
Barabbas free for them. Then he had Jesus
