NORTHBRIDGE GOLF CLUB LIMITED LADIES’ REPORT
This year the lady members on our committee were Sue Dwyer (our President), Bess Worrall (our indispensable Vice Captain), Jenny George (our imperturbable secretary), Gillian McFee (trophy co- ordinator), Mei-guin Ng (floral displays etc), Debbie Nock (handicapper), Ruth McBride (Treasurer) and Amanda Clark (our morning tea co-ordinator). Their work is gratefully acknowledged.
This year we had to address the advent of the black course and the demise of the black tee option. We have tried to integrate the new course in an equitable way, and hope we answered as many of our members’ needs as possible.
We did not field a pennants team this year, the geographical demands were too much for the local women. Sylvie Manning and Claire Mallinson will be representing us at the Metropolitan Finals in the GolfNSW Women’s 2P Ambrose.
More than 60 women enjoyed 3 days of golf, good weather and other delights (+ excesses and subsequent embarrassments) in the Hunter Valley. ‘Girls on Tour’ has become a great tradition for the women.
This year we welcomed more than 50 new women members, many from Cammeray. They have fitted in very well to our Northbridge milieu, and we hope that they have been made to feel most welcome. We continued to rely on the good offices of the 2CH social group to help induct new golfers into the club.
During lockdown we were able to include many women from others clubs in our competitions. They expressed their appreciation of their friendly welcome and were full of praise for our course. The club’s reputation was certainly enhanced by this initiative.
The annual Visitors Day attracted over 100 members and their guests, and the day raised over $2300 for our selected charity (Stride).
We would like to express our particular gratitude the ever helpful proshop, to Malcolm, his green staff and the administration staff for all their willing help through the year. I should also acknowledge Phil Peterson, who, as always, been very supportive of our activities.
It is a great privilege to be your women’s captain, and I thank everyone for their help through the year. Rosemary Brooker
