Hearty food and excellent wines
How can one describe the restaurant „Jäger- Willi“ and the owner Willi Jäger in Bensheim? Is his restaurant a quaint wine cult tavern, a combination of collecting zeal, junk room and curiosity cabinet? All these apply to the Jäger-Willi. The owner, farmer Willi Jäger, has collected everything that happened to fall into his hands during his professional life. Old candlesticks and stable lanterns, whose petroleum once gave light, hunting trophies, a large number of tools, hay and pitchforks, milking buckets and chairs, licence plates from all over the world, from countries which he had probably never visited. All of these have a place of honour at Willi‘s. In the various restaurants, in the former cowshed, which is also a guest room today, in the courtyard and on the ceiling of the courtyard. „Willi“ has now retired, not because there is no room in the house and yard for collecting exhibits, but probably because he has long exceeded his working age; with his son Michael, an energetic successor was ready to take over.
