In closing, if you want to be successful at bass
same thing. It is common for anglers to mistakenly
use the two terms incorrectly. Structure is the
natural lay of the land. It extends from the waters

brush piles, rock piles, and timber. When cover is
located on key structure at a depth at which fish are
holding on the day you are fishing, it is even better!

methods, no short cuts, and no secret lures. The
key is your mental attitudes and always staying
positive. An angler must believe that the next move
you make will be the right one. Keep believing that
your approach is the best one for you. Consider
this, on any given body of water, there are multiple
techniques that anglers can use to catch fish. If you
don’t believe it, go to a tournament weigh in and
listen as anglers share how they were successful.
Very seldom will every successful angler in the
event be using the exact same technique. They each
found what worked best for them based upon the
changing conditions of the day. At one point, I heard
a successful angler share how in their early days of
tournament fishing, they would pay close attention to
what everyone said on stage about how they caught
fish. Once the event was over, this angler would
go back out on the water and try to replicate those
winning techniques trying to learn and figure out
how to get better at the art of fishing. I am not saying
this is something you should or shouldn’t do. It is
what worked for that angler. What I am saying is that
if you fail on a given day, review what lures you used
and the places you fished. Look for the things that
will let you benefit from those experiences.
