is a time and place for that. A good example was fishing last year in the
Lady Bass Classic on Lake Logan Martin where the conditions of fishing in
current required me to do something different. The two techniques I focused
on in current only apply in those specific situations. On the days I had no
current, I used my faithfuls: crankbaits, shakey head, jig or Texas rig,
and wacky to put fish in the livewell. I could later switch to the situa-
tional techniques to cull most of those fish.

The ultimate lesson for me to remember and apply start with figuring out
and remaining true to who I am as an angler. Second, looking for loca-
tions on the body of water that fit who I am. Finally, not being distract-
ed by all the other choices I have unless the situation warrants. How will
I know when the other situation warrants is still and unknown. But now I
have new goals. Ones that I think and have to believe will better suit me
in the future.

So, if you find yourself in a position similar to me, consider this. Most
every successful angler is known for something. Ask yourself the question,

what am I known for? Once you can narrow that down, your chances for suc-
cess go up. It will not happen overnight. Stay focused and stay true and
in time you will have some successes. The frequency of those will increase
over time!
