knowledge of what they were taught. They demonstrate this with a hands on midterm and final exam. Many
students falter when they get to college because they were never required to use the knowledge they gained.
We minimize that difficulty by requiring hands on home work and hands on testing. DUE TO THE POSSIBLE
HAZARDS, THIS CLASS IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR STUDENTS WITH ADD OR ADHD WITHOUT PARENTAL
INVOLVEMENT. Prerequisite: Completion of a pre-algebra class with at least a B or higher. No exceptions will be
made. Required Text: World of Chemistry by Zumdahl 2nd edition Teacher: Becky Thai Recommended Donation
of $15 per weekly class
• College Bound Physics- (high school) This class is designed to provide students with the skills needed to
successfully compete in a college level science environment. The course will begin with the laws of motion and
simple machines. We will continue to explore the areas of optics, gravity, light, and sound, waveforms,
electricity and solar power. Class prerequisites: successful completion of Algebra I- students should have a
strong understanding of Algebra I or they need to enroll in the Advanced Math Lab. The Language of Science
class is strongly recommended to help students work through the process of writing lab reports. Required

weekly class
• Engineering- (Middle School, grades 6-8) Hands-On Engineering is a series of design and engineering challenges
that utilize engineering concepts, the principles of physical and environmental science, high-level mathematical
skills, creativity, and teamwork. The purpose of these challenges is to provide important practice in applying
scientific ideas and mathematical skills while finding creative solutions to a variety of real-life problems. By the
end of this course, your child will be able to think more analytically, scientifically, mathematically, and
creatively. No required textbook Teacher: Leigh Elkins Recommended Donation: $15 per weekly class
• Marine Biology- (Middle School & High School) In this class we will be exploring the creatures of the ocean,
learning about their habitats, their physical and behavioral characteristics, and the marine environment in
which they live. Some topics that may be covered are exploring the oceans, marine biologists at work,
unicellular and multicellular organisms, algae and plants and marine animals. Required Textbook: pending
Teacher: Elijah McKenna Recommended Donation is $15 per weekly class session
• Science Fair Safari- Targets upper elementary grades from approximately 3rd-6th to encourage the students and
parents to work together on a top notch project that will honor God. This is an incredible opportunity for first
time science fair participants as well as those who have gone through the process before. Required Text: Science
and Engineering Fairs the Right Way Elementary Manual Teacher: Lisa Giordano Recommended Donation of $12
per weekly class
• Introduction to Research & Design Science Fair Projects- (middle & high school) This targets middle and high
school students who are not confident in their research skills and helps them to establish a research program
that will be successful and fun in order to participate in the science fair. Required Text: Secondary Science Fair
Manual Teacher: Lisa Giordano Recommended Donation of $12 per class session
• Planetary Science- (Middle School) **May be offered 2018-2019** Students will gain an overall awareness of
the Earth’s structure, components, and how the different elements that make up our planet are interrelated
with those found in the universe. Required Textbook: pending Teacher: Pending Recommended Donation is $15
per weekly class session
