Currently, the Baumans are working in the Italian northern city of Trento. After living for 2 years in what many consider the most “religious city in the world”— Rome, Italy — the Bauman’s now live in a city that prides itself in being “anti-religion.” Instead of being constantly under the shadows of cathedrals and four million people with little to no knowledge of the true salvation of grace and forgiveness that we read about in the Bible now they live in the shadows of science, wealth, and indifference. Presently, the Baumans are sent out by the International Mission Board (IMB) and are working amongst university students that come to Trento to study in one of the top universities in Europe. They have found that using English as a platform is an easy tool the Lord has given them to form relationships that they pray ultimately produces new believers. In addition, though they are few, they have seen local believers come together to form churches that are like beacons of light shining brighter than ever. A large part of the Baumans ministry is to be faithful members of a church (Chiesa Evangelica di Trento) located in the small town of Trento and to be humble servants to the various needs of the church. There are roughly 125,000 people living in Trento and currently there is only one solid gospel preaching church with roughly 75 members. They may seem small but this local church is mighty as they cling to God’s help and promises and work to reach those around them. On a larger scale, the Baumans represent roughly 15 units sent out by the International Mission Board to Italy/Malta. Spread all throughout Italy in other cities like Naples, Turin, Milan, Arrezzo, Pescara and Rome, with each unit having different ways of reaching the Italians. From play dates at parks and teaching at universities to working with refugees, each team is able to use their giftings and interests to reach the lost in Italy. Would you be praying for local believers to grow in number in Trento, new churches to be planted in Northern Italy, wisdom in new ministries, the Italy/Malta families to remain safe and healthy, and that the Lord would raise up more people burdened to pray, give, and go to Italy.
