EDITOR’S NOTE

all weather is the best in Vegas, in my opinion. The tem-
peratures can’t be beat and the wind seems to die down.
With my hobby of choice being tennis, I really relish the
mild temperatures. I am done with the 100 plus temper-
F atures and ready for perfect playing weather. And now
there is a new sport in town to try, similar to tennis in many ways,
but oh so different. Padel, such a simple name, is the newest world-
wide game and seems to be a mixture of tennis and racquetball. RRA
Padel in Las Vegas is fairly new on the scene and is steadily growing.

For our readers who follow the PGA TOUR, I am sure you have heard
his name a lot more recently—Collin Morikawa. A new Vegas golf res-
ident, Morikawa is a major champ and off to one of the best career
beginnings in PGA Tour history. Besides Collin Morikawa’s consist-
ently brilliant play since turning professional in mid-2019, there are some
other eye-popping items that stand out regarding one of Vegas Golf’s new-
est residents and major champions. To learn more about Morikawa from
local writer Brian Hurlburt, flip to page 34.
Even though we can’t physically support our newest professional team—
the Las Vegas Raiders—we can still embrace them as our own. And we
will do our part, just like we do with the Knights and other professional
Vegas teams, and cover our NFL team with pride. In this issue, get to know
NFL and Raiders legend Marcus Allen, thanks again to local writer Brian
Hurlburt. Allen is a 2003 pro football hall of fame inductee after a 16-year
career spent with the Los Angeles (now Las Vegas) Raiders and Kansas City
Chiefs. And Allen is an avid golfer. “It is as good as it gets because I love
being outdoors,” says Allen. “I love nature. I love the tranquility and peace
that golf brings.” For this story, flip to page 42.
In the past few issues, we have included editorial coverage on several
events we plan and run that raise funds for local charities—the Lake Las
Vegas Golf & Food Festival and the Lake Las Vegas Classic. Unfortunately,
both of those events will not be happening this year. The Lake Las Vegas
Golf & Food Festival was postponed, and will happen early spring of 2021.
The Lake Las Vegas Classic was cancelled for the year, but will be back
again for 2021. We are saddened to be among the many of events and organ-
izations that have been affected by the pandemic. Stay tuned, however, for
more editorial coverage on each, as we get ready to support our local char-
                            ities in 2021.
