The SNJGA offers a clear path for juniors, from beginner to the
highest level player. First on Course is a very exciting program for boy
and girl juniors 6 to 12 and offers four weeks of instruction in a clinic
setting from some of the top teaching professionals in the area. Cost is
only $75.
Among the professionals who have offered clinics in 2018 are
Dutt-Roberts, Eagle Crest Golf Club; Clark and Tony Lawson, Wild-
horse; Cathy Kim, TPC Summerlin; Matt Henderson, TPC Las Vegas;
Jane Schaefer, Las Vegas Golf Club; John Hildreth, Rio Secco; Tim
Skophammer, Painted Desert; and Mike Davis, DragonRidge.
An easy transition from the clinics are introductory tours including
the Antigua Junior Prep Tour in the summer and U.S. Kids Golf Tour
year-round plus the popular PGA Jr. League in the spring. Each offers
competition for the best golfers, but welcome new players.
Once players get a little older and are ready for increased competi-
tion, the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association Tour is the perfect
place for boy and girl players 12 and older. The SNJGA Tour is also the
way kids can qualify for the Big “I” Junior World and also prestigious
Southern Nevada and Nevada travel teams such as Boys and Girls
Junior Americas Cup.
“We are continually looking at the best ways to serve the youth golf-
ers of Southern Nevada and we are a great resource and place to play
for young players,” Dutt-Roberts says. “We also work closely with the
local PGA of America professionals and other organizations. Golfers
of all levels are welcome to join with us. Parents can also use us as a
sounding board for the best options for their young golfers.”
Another benefit is the Youth on Course initiative that offers access
for kids to many top courses for only $5 per round. Visit www.South-
ernNevadaJuniorGolf.com for all junior golf information.
