What a Christian Believes

From the earliest of times and in all kinds of cultures, it has
been believed that a part of man would live on after death.
Only in the last three centuries, with increased scientific
knowledge bringing with it a greater understanding of the
enormity of creation, have men seen just how small they are
and have ceased to take immortality for granted.

Amongst those who are known as atheists is the belief that
when the body dies, every part of a man is dead. Even in
Jesus time, there was a sect amongst the Jews, called the
Saducees who did not believe in a resurrection because it
was not referred to in the Laws of Moses.

At the beginning of this study, in the section about MAN, this
is what was seen. Man is created in the divine image of God
Gen 1 v26 'Let us make man in our image and in our
                likeness...'

Likeness. God is Spirit and invisible, Colossians 1 v15
'Jesus is the image of the invisible God....' No man has
seen God directly in this form. We know, therefore, we were
made to be like God morally, and to share fellowship with
Him. Genesis 3 v8, tells how God came to walk with man in
                the Garden.

So in respect to matters dealing with life, what is God like?

One of the names, describing God is in Genesis 21 v33
'Abraham .....called on the name of the Lord, the Eternal
God.' Eternity is the place where God dwells.

So God is eternal, everlasting, there is no end with Him and
He has made man in His likeness. Therefore there is an
                eternal quality in all men.

King Solomon, the son of King David, wrestled in his mind
