Repentance from sin

But the real thing is entirely different. Ephesians 2 v8,9 'For
it is by Grace you have been saved, through faith - and
this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by
works, so that no-one can boast.'

Salvation is not a thing or a something, it is a someone.
Isaiah 12 v2 'Surely God is my salvation, I will trust and
not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord is my strength and my
song; He has become my salvation.'

This great Salvation also comes with three aspects to it or
three grades. The mistake is sometimes made whereby
people think "I have committed my life to Christ, I have been
saved, that is the end of the matter".

The Bible teaches that being saved has three tenses.

                1. I have been saved
                2. I am being saved
                3. I have yet to be saved

The truth of this is found in Hebrews 7 v25 'Therefore He
(Jesus) is able to save completely (or forever) those who
come to God through Him because He always lives to
                intercede for them.'

In other words it is something that Jesus is continuing to do
on behalf of those who belong to Him.

                1. A Past Salvation.

The moment we accept the Lord Jesus as saviour, we
receive the gift of salvation. Romans 1 v16 'the gospel
(good news) is the power of God for the salvation of
                everyone who believes..'
