Bruce Carbonari was with Fortune Brands for 21 years, the last three as CEO, before retiring in 2011. During his
tenure, Fortune Brands, previously known as American Brands, had fingers in several directions, including distilled
spirits, hand-held locks such as for bikes and gym lockers, and golf products. He oversaw its breakup into smaller,
focused firms and selloff of some brands.
Beam Suntory, the descendant of the liquor company, moved its headquarters to New York in 2021.
Fortune Brands Innovations, the parent company of Master Lock, Moen faucets and several other home and
security brands, in January announced a plan to expand its footprint in Deerfield, adding 400 new jobs to an
existing 183.
At this early point in the year, high-end sales are running ahead of the pace in 2024. There have been 21 homes in
the Chicago area sold for $4 million or more, compared to 16 by this date last year.
