When Picturesque Views Meet Magnificent Spaces, Extraordinary Events Are Inevitable
PROVENANCE…
The beautiful Beaux Arts building, known today as 189 East Lake Shore Drive, is superbly located on the
premier and prestigious block of stately buildings facing Lake Michigan and was built in 1924. In later
years, it became the Mayfair Regent Hotel and was crowned by the famous Ceil Blue restaurant, frequented
by the elite and powerful in Chicago, it was a gathering place to “see and be seen” and enjoy the
spectacular views. The old saying, “land is precious because they are not making any more of it” rings true
along East Lake Shore Drive, with its glorious views of Lake Michigan and prime location. Successful LR
Development was drawn to this concept and purchased the hotel and proceeded to spearhead the most
successful upscale residential condominium conversion in the city. Today, it is one of only two
condominium buildings among the eight stately buildings along this highly sought after block.
Fortunately, the changes made were without substantially altering the building’s structure and it remains
today a 19-story building and is home to Chicago’s most notable residents.

spacious and tastefully furnished and appointed.
