Patrick caused serious eco damage - he got rid of a

complete indigenous species - snakes.

Patrick damaged property - he lit bonfires, knocked

over standing stones, desecrated sacred sites and

stabbed the King in the foot.

The arrival of Patrick heralded the subjugation of

Ireland by Rome.

Patrick attacked the Spirit of Ireland and beat it

into the past.

Is it therefore surprising that the day dedicated to

him is a day of excessive eating and drinking and

debauchery?

Patrick was Irelands first gurrier*.

*(gurrier is Irish slang)
