present to alter the material course of events by predicting

say that such predictions have never, when done through God,
accelerated the process of dying, that by us giving incorrect
information we have never led a person into a difficult position.
You must always be sure of the source of the information first
and then you know how reliable it is, and can act on it. The talk
of the man selling his business and going a certain way because
of “spiritual guidance” is misleading. We do not direct such
drastic action, especially if the results are to lead to the
situation that occurred in that instance. You can be sure that it
was the man’s misinterpretation that caused it. Where that
situation broke down was the man having first made the wrong
decision by misinterpreting us. He didn’t heed the re-guidance
we gave to bring him back to the right path and the results were
lost in the turmoil of his mind. He had no consolation from
those around him who blamed us rather than he.”
