The family is a unit that is added to from within not from
outside. Therefore it cannot be taken from except from
within. (This was a communication where the question had
been raised regarding mentally handicapped children and how
to understand what this was for). B’s problem should be
considered in this light and rather than to dislodge the ‘flaw’
within the unit it should be that the unit consolidate around
this ‘flaw’ and remain the unit.
In a unit of this calibre one would find that having decided
that the unit remain intact and consolidated, that again from
within the problem would diminish and the participants cope
with the situation. Man must learn to stand together and that
situations not problems exist. It is only the looseness of man’s
integration that leaves individuals or groups of individuals to
cope with a situation that is too great and to close for them to
handle. That is why man must get closer to one another. It
takes many men to lift an elephant that is standing on one
mans foot.
The problem that B faces has to be re-termed a situation and
then a series of situations can be looked at with rational. A
situation is easier the handle than a problem. A problem is
negative and a situation is neutral and handle-able. So call it
a situation. Now in this situation the family unit, by love and
understanding, can help the afflicted one and they are best
equipped as they are of the same blood. Instinct in the family
unit is dominant. So you see the unit is important. Man is a
