Hope (1).
Words we have already given you might have the effect of
creating a certain despondency. This is not what we seek to do. Life is
not without great hope. Remember that it is not in the interest of
anyone that there should not be hope. Hope is invoked when there is
an obvious lack of opportunity to success. It is in your darkest hour
that you discover hope. Isn’t also when you are in your darkest hour
that you also discover God. God is hope. We say this because the only
certainty you have in moments of trial is that perhaps there is a God
who will express His mercy by restoring your life to some semblance
of normality. But will He? He won’t; but He will be there for you to
help you realise that you best not wait any longer but begin the search
for the way that your life is directing you. God in His infinite mercy
will help you help yourself into the reality that life itself is all that you
need, in order to achieve the states of consciousness that will
eventually reunite you with the greatness, that is your right as a Spirit,
as a part of the very essence of the same God that you plead too in
your distress.
So you see hope is like belief. It is a way of opening yourself
to the fact that you can, and will, find your way through the greatest of
trials. You will also find that God has set no task greater than your
ability to overcome any obstacle that the task presents. The task is
there to prove to you that you have the experience, the ability, the
knowledge to endure on your own, the trial you are experiencing.
Does this feel like “cold comfort” as you might say? It probably does
if you do not have hope. It is the same with belief. The threat of dying
is a lonely vigil if you have no hope of an afterlife. Life is so empty
