The word “Angel” originates from the Latin word
angelos : the messenger of God. This word in turn is a
translation from the much older Hebrew word : Mal’ak or
malakh which also means messenger and originates from
around 1000 BC

In the 5 century BC the prophet Malakhi or Malachie
(translated as ‘messenger’) tells of the coming of another
prophet Elijah (translated as ‘the day of God’) Therefore
Angels are messengers from God as are all Spirits that come
from the Light to bring us guidance and enlightenment. In all
societies we find mention of Divine messengers mentioned
within the myths and legends. There was a renewal of interest

in angels during the 16 century where ‘they became a cult
among scholars and philosophers’. Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa
von Nettesheim, a German doctor of philosophy, a barrister, a
doctor and astrologer, in 1531 wrote a book called Occult
Philosophy in which he stated : ‘No one is aware of the fact
that, through good work, a pure spirit, mystical orations, pious
mortifications and other similar things, we can draw angels
from the heavens. We must not doubt that, similarly, through
material and worldly things we can also attract divinities of the
