Lesson 6.6: Methods of Defueling

Vehicle-to-Vehicle  Pressure reduction strategy only
Transfer  Transfers fuel from one vehicle to another
o Must have defuel port
o Transfer hose components
 High-pressure conductive hose
 Defuel nozzle
 Fuel nozzle
 Vehicle must be grounded
 May not totally defuel vehicle

Compressor Inlet  Transfer fuel back to CNG station
Procedure  CNG vehicle must have a defueling system
 Storage vessels must have room to accept the fuel
 Follow station defueling panel operating instructions
 Compressor must be on

Vent-to-  Requirements
Atmosphere o Check with local air quality board
Procedure o Requires:
 Grounded, sealed connection
 Pressure regulation
 Fire extinguisher
 Two-inch pipe
 Equipped with valve and regulator to control flow
 Gastight connection to cylinder
 Grounded
