• Invite udentstoturnandtalkwithanelbowpartner.Po sentence frames on the board for udents to reference:
- “Invisible means _____. Something that is invisible is a _____.” - “Visible means _____. Something that is visible is
a _____.”

“What does visible mean?”
• Write the de nition in the appropriate boxes on the Frayer Models. Refer to the Frayer Model for Invisible (answers, for teacher reference) and Frayer Model for Visible (answers, for teacher reference) as necessary.
• Show udentsTheInvisibleBoywordcards.Tell udents that some of the words mean invisible and some mean visi- ble.
• Say:“Iwillsaytheword,youwillsaytheword,andthenyou will point to invisible or visible to show me where the word belongs.”Tell udents that this is for practice and that it is okay to make a mi ake with pointing.
• Mix up The Invisible Boy word cards. Select and show u- dents one of the word cards. Say the word on
the card. Attach the word card to the appropriate
Frayer Model based on udent sugge ions. If
necessary, guide udents in under anding where each word belongs by giving the de nition of the word. Repeat this pro- cess until you have gone through each of the cards:
- Invisible: unnoticed, unseen, hidden, out of sight, see- through
- Visible: seen, noticeable, evident, obvious, observable
• Tell udentsthatyou’velefttwoboxesblankforthemto complete at their tables: “Sentence” and “Picture.”
• Invite udentstoturnandtalkwithanelbowpartner:
“Create an original sentence using the word invisible or visible.”
