Club at WestPark Democrats, continued

MISSION: The mission of The Club at WestPark Democrats is to create
a welcoming forum to support Democratic candidates of integrity who
share our values of unity, diversity and equal rights. We strive to use our
collective power through discussion, information and outreach to put our
progressive vision, values and goals into action.
Digital World Club
Jody Oberdank will be giving a presentation on the Calendar function in
Apple products. Please join us on zoom on February 10th at 10:00 (9:30
if you have a computer/digital questions). Learn how this useful tool can
be used to your best advantage. Learn how to set up events, alerts, and
more. The zoom link will be sent out to members via email soon. If you
have any questions or need computer/digital help, contact

Helping Hands 2.0
We celebrated (albeit quietly) the New Year of 2021
and we are all hoping for a new and bright beginning,
with patience. We have the vaccine to look forward to
in the next few weeks for us Oldies but Goodies (75+),
then the middle guys (65+) and then the spring chickens
that live here. Once completed, we hope we will be
able to open up our community again and enjoy the reasons we moved
here in the first place!
Right now, the best we can do is be thankful for all we have and be
generous by helping those who are less fortunate. Be kind and keep in
touch with your friends and loved ones who may need a special hug in
these trying times. Hoping you are all well and following the guidelines
of masks, social distancing and washing your hands so that you and
others can remain healthy. Now more so than ever!
Our Spring Fashion Show and Luncheon is postponed until April 20,
2022! The Timbers will not be having any large gatherings for at least 8-
9 months. By April 2022, we should be good to go and once again hold
this fabulous event. Since we will have no income from our fundraisers
this year, we will unfortunately be unable to make any charitable
contributions as we have in the past. We are immensely proud of the
more than $3500 we gave in 2020 and the over $10,000 we have given in
the past 4 years and look forward to continuing this in the future.
Helping Hands is temporarily suspending our New Resident program
until it is 100% safe to do so. Once we can open again, we will look
forward to meeting you at our monthly Coffee and Chat in our newly

decorated Retreat.
As you know, Helping Hands sends cards to homeowners who are sick,
had surgery or an accident, or lost a loved one. A group of volunteers
make us beautiful handmade cards to send. We would appreciate it if
you could save cards that you have received from anyone so our card
crafters can use parts from those cards to make new cards. They can be
any kind, and you can choose to save the whole card or just the front
cover. You can now leave your cards at the home of Maria Winkler on
the table outside her front door in a plastic bag. Her address is 2040
Appersett Loop. They will be most welcome and help those who are
crafting the cards we send to our neighbors.
Helping Hands is always here for you. Although right now we cannot
deliver meals to you, or run errands, we can still send cards. Please let us
know if you or someone you know is ill or had an accident, had surgery,
or has lost a loved one and we will get a card out right away. Please

It will be great when we can all get together again!
Shutter Bugs

Our next Shutterbugs meeting is scheduled for February 4 at 2pm. We
will be conducting this meeting using Zoom. An invitation will go out to
all Shutterbug members a few days before the meeting with the Zoom
link.
For this month’s meeting and we will start our new year of programs
with a tour around that little dial on the top of your DSLR camera. Like
Sesame Street we will start with the Letter “A” for Aperture Priority.
We will use the Emma Davies web training called “A Year with My
Camera” A pdf from her chapter on Aperture will be included in our
reminder email about a week before the meeting. Please review and
come prepared with your questions.
The aperture affects the depth of field of your photograph as well as
controlling how much light hits the sensor. This is one of the most
creative aspects of photography, and once you can control it you are well
on your way to being able to call yourself a photographer.
We also want to remind you of our new approach to Covid-19 safe photo
outings. Earlier this month we sent out an email listing a specific location
for all of us to individually visit and take some photos to share at this
upcoming meeting. The location for this month is at the corner of
Lincoln and Pacific in Downtown Roseville. We will announce our next
location at the meeting.
A reminder for all that we have decided to standardize on the way we
present photos at our meetings. Please send any photos you want to Terry
