Making A Difference, continued We actually frequent all of the senior Del Webb communities in the
Featured Resident: Irvin McAllister area. We have enjoyed bands and social activities here at The Cub. We
enjoyed a Motown review tribute band, the fourth of July celebrations,
and golfing at Sun City as well as their restaurant. We also visit Sun
City Lincoln where pre-Covid we enjoyed an extraordinary Earth, Wind
& Fire tribute band!
I saw an advertisement to teach incarcerated adults a few hours per
week. I interviewed and subsequently received a call to teach GED math
in Placer County jail. For the past seven years I have served as a part
time GED math teacher for Placer County Schools, and my classroom is
only ten minutes away. I still find joy in teaching accelerated math to at
risk individuals. I maintain a GED math passing rate of approximately
85% of the students that I send for testing and I received a teacher of the
year award. More importantly in my day to day travels, I am often
recognized and thanked by prior students . . . no one has ever thrown
rocks at me! As I said, I love teaching!
In my spare time I cook and boat. My specialty is smoked brisket and
ribs. I have conducted a sausage class at the club, and I think my Parker
House yeast rolls are class worthy! I have a small boat in my garage
that I play with on the river. I “go” fishing, but I have yet to catch fish
anywhere around here besides Costco.
I truly cherish my neighbors, who I find to be patient and great
resources. As a result of the earlier stoke that temporarily paralyzed me,
student achievement scores from 696 to 828; an average of 40 points per it resulted in memory deficiency in some areas, such as names. As a

standardized testing achievement targets for two consecutive years.
In the spring of my third and final year at RCP my wife, Susan, and I
visited Roseville for the first time with the goal of lunch and viewing the
new Del Webb homes. As we were leaving, after viewing the models, a
salesperson asked, “Did you like the models?”, to which we replied
“Yes!”. She them encouraged us to write our names on the back of a
card and place it in the drawing. Well, my name was drawn first and I
found myself placing a deposit on a new home.
Our home was actually completed before the end of the school
year. When I learned of our accomplishment at RCP it was hard to
leave. I love teaching, it’s what I do! (But, if you read a little further,
you’ll see how that played out.)
The Club is ideal for us because the airport is relatively close, and we
often travel. I also frequently attend morning mass at St Claire’s which is
less than ten minutes away.
I love living at The Club. One of the items I like most about our
community is that we have many activities to choose from. Susan and I
are a part of very different interest groups. She plays Trivia, she
participates in the Water Color class, and has participated in Bocce. I
recently joined the Trekkers group (although yet to take a trek), and I
recently attended a sour dough bread making activity. For years I have
enjoyed the Volleyball group, weightlifting groups, Water Aerobics, and
for a while I was a regular at Yoga. Many evenings my wife and I enjoy
the pool and spa. I also ride my bike and walk my dog, our Chihuahua,
the head of our security, Cowboy. One activity I wish we had would be
