Sophie’s Story
Hi, my name is Sophie, and I am a Labradoodle (51% Poodle and
49% Black Lab) with a Merle coat. My parents were looking for a
th
dog to rescue since it was just about 2 years since they lost their 7 Schnauzer.
Why Labradoodle vs Schnauzer? I have no idea other than the shelter classi-
fied me as a giant Schnauzer. I ended up lost somewhere in West Sacramento
without a chip or contact information on my collar. I was transferred to Yolo
County Sheriff's Office – Animal Services. There my photo was posted on
their website for my former owners to find me but that didn’t happen. A friend
called my current parents to let them know there was a Schnauzer available for
adoption. They had to fill out an application, submit it for consideration and
make an appointment to be interviewed and check me out. I was very excited
to meet them and jumped all over the place, but I didn’t bark (a plus). They
took me to my new home. They realized I
had some basic training, but I was still a big
puppy (52 lbs.) at 12 months and decided to
do DNA testing that identified me as a Lab-
radoodle. I am now 18 months old and not
sure what I weigh but I have grown a lot.
Fortunately, I have a corner lot to run around
the perimeter and lots of plants and trees to
pick at or make into a bed (causing my parents grief). I am a strong puppy
that needs lots of exercise, so the solution was to have my parents buy tricy-
cles (since they aren’t very steady on their feet) and attach a tether so I can
run along with them. It works great! I love to visit people we run into and
rub noses with other fur babies. If you need a fur baby love, I am willing to
give you hugs and kisses. We make a weekly trip to Mo Jo’s for a pup cup.
I’ve made lots of friends here at The Club, especially Cooper and Lucky.
We even found a Doodle group that meets once or twice a week where 7 to
8 Doodles (all kinds) run around in the field playing with each other. I am
loved! By the way, my parents are Larry & Sandy Sydnor.
Molly
is an absolute gem and a wonderful addition to my new home. Prior to moving to Roseville,
my best four-footed pal, Bart, of 13 years passed from cancer. I knew I wanted to have a dog
again but waited until I settled in my new home. The folks at
Homeward Bound had mentioned they had a very shy dog that fit
my wish list. The moment Molly saw me, she walked up, put her
head in my lap and stole my heart. An hour later we were on our
way home.
I knew I wanted a big dog but never thought I would have a Golden
Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix. She is a gentle giant who loves to
play with smaller dogs (I don’t think she realizes her size) and is
getting comfortable with bigger dogs at her weekly training clas-
ses. Molly joined me five months ago and has come a long way in
her social skills and training. She loves her morning walks (6:30 am
when it is cool) and getting good morning petting from friends she
has made. She is such a sweetie I can’t imagine life without her as
she has filled that void in my heart.
