Placer County is growing. Landon Wolf spoke at our March 4th meeting.
He gave us some updates on Covid in the county and on future
construction in Placer County. He encouraged everyone to attend the
March 24th meeting to hear more about these updates. Over the next 30 Shriners has a wish list of items they need; anyone in the community is
years, Placer County will add 25,000 new homes. All construction will
be balanced with the environment in mind and will include parks and
trails.
A new Active Community development “Placer Vineyards” has broken
ground. It is south of Baseline. The “Market Place” will be under
construction sometime in the next two years. It will be located at the
corner of Base Line and Fiddyment. Tenants still to be determined.
Alice and Randy have been appointed as delegates to the CAGOP. Alice
gave a recap of the recent Spring Convention which also included a
history of the Republican Party in CA at our meeting.
In celebration of March’s Women’s History Month, her presentation
included some history of the 19th Amendment. Did you know that a CA HOA. However, it's important to get outside, and safely exercise in good
Republican, Senator A.A Sergeant, drafted the verbiage of the 19th
Amendment in 1878? When it was finally added to the Constitution in
1919, 26 of the 36 State Legislatures that voted to ratify it were under
Republican Control.
White women were finally allowed to vote in 1920. In 1924, Native
American could vote, if they could pass a literacy test. Asian women
were given the right to vote in 1934. It was not until 1965 that Black
women (and Black men) were finally given the right to vote.
The first women elected to Congress was a Republican, Jeanette Rankin
from Montana in 1917. She did not even have the right to vote for
herself. Since then, over 393 women have served as U.S
Representatives. Currently 144 of the 539 or 27% of the seats are held
by women. That represents an increase of 50% from a decade ago.

Our next meeting is April 1st. We are looking forward to another great
informative meeting. Our speaker that evening will be Tom Hudson:
• President, Placer County Taxpayers Association
• Past Chairman, Placer County Republican Party
• President, California Taxpayer Protection Committee.
• He also has a wealth of information about politics in California
generally.

Club Crafters
All though crafters may not be meeting at the
clubhouse library every Tuesday, we now meet via
Zoom chatting and continuing to work on our projects observed Democratic voter registration outpacing Republican
while enjoying the company of our friends and
neighbors. Whether you knit, crochet, color, draw,
paint, do needlework, card or jewelry making, it’s a
good time to complete unfinished projects.
Our ongoing project is making blankets for Sacramento Blankets for
Sacramento Kids. SBSK provides handmade blankets to children in the
April 2021
Club Crafters, continued
Sacramento and Placer Counties, in addition to State and National
emergencies. The blankets are distributed to children in homeless
shelters, hospitals, schools, etc. We accept knitted, crocheted, sewn,
quilted, and no-sew fleece blankets from the community.
We continue to donate to Sacramento Shriners Hospital. Every year
welcome to contribute. All of these are great projects to give back to the
community while doing something fun with your neighbors. If you have
craft items to donate, crafters are happy take them. For more information

Club Trekkers
COVID-19 cases are down in the State and the County to levels before
December 1st. The Club Trekkers will look to the Club’s Board for
guidance regarding the resumption of activities sponsored by
air quality. It's certainly possible to walk around the neighborhood and
maintain good social distancing. Be sure and dress appropriately for the
weather. There's also lots of different trails in the area on which you can
maintain good social distancing, especially during the week when there
are fewer people on the trails. Email Mark Moore, marklmm@aol.com,
if you are interested in getting out with your family members or if you
would like information on specific hikes in the area. And get vaccinated!
Club Veterans
Here I am once again doing my best to report to you about the “Nothing”
we have accomplished as an SIG. I’m sad once again to offer nothing of
importance since we’ve not had a meeting since last March.
I will say this; many of us are waiting patiently for our vaccine shots so
we can get back to work on projects that will assist our community.
Getting back together will be the best positive therapy for the gloom
we’ve had to live under this past year. As soon as that happens I know
the board under the direction of our President Roy Vanoni will lay out a
2021 calendar of event planning in preparation for us to get back to
doing good things for those in need once again. So I guess my message
to you is hope is on the horizon, I believe and hope is always a good
thing to have no matter the situation. Be safe.
Club at WestPark Democrats
A Bright Future
News outlets1 have described a shift in demographics within Placer
County over the past fifteen years. This shift is economic, including
development and additions of younger family-friendly neighborhoods,
and it is political as well. Since 2006, Placer County Elections has
registration in the last nine years by a margin of more than 10-3.
Other geographical areas2 have witnessed such a shift that the County or
State has turned from Red to Purple to Blue.
March meeting: These shifts provided a backdrop to a presentation
made at our Club’s March meeting by Tomas Vera, Chair of the Placer
County Democratic Party. He described the structure of the State and
