I’d like to thank everyone who attended the June open session board meeting. What a great turnout. If you weren’t able to attend,
here are some updates that will be happening around the community in the coming months.
As you likely know, we had to remove 16 trees along Kennerleigh Parkway earlier this year; three at the north end of the street
near Village Green and the reaming between The Retreat and Pleasant Grove.
The Landscape Committee, Board liaison Linda Mohr, myself and the Board have been working on plant backs for the area. A contract was
signed to plant 3 24” box Chinese Pistache in the area near Village Green where the other more root invasive trees were removed that were
causing damage to sound walls and irrigation lines. These trees will provide much needed shade as they mature. They will be 11 feet tall when
they are planted, giving them a great head start. To better serve the annual budget and not “break the bank” as they say, the remaining trees will
be planted in phases throughout the next two to three years. The most traveled areas with the least
amount of shade (The Retreat to Thornecroft) will receive approximately 19 trees to start and they’ll
be planted late summer / early fall weather dependent. We want to give them their best chance to root
and flourish. The exact type of trees have yet to be determined but we will keep the community up-
dated as things are solidified.
The large overgrown lorapetelum in front of The Retreat at the flag pole has been removed. We were
unable to generate the new growth from underneath like we were hoping. Stay tuned to see what goes
back in its place.
I hope everyone has a wonderful July!
