Jerry and Colleen Prola took a cross country road trip by car.
We left on May 19 and returned on July 11, 53 days total. We passed through
13 different states - several of them twice. We drove Highway 40 ( using Rout
66 when available) going east most of the way to Florida, and then Highway 10
coming back west.
Some highlights include: The Ozarks, The Great Smoky Mountains, Dolly-
wood, Graceland, Disneyworld (where our grandkids joined us for 10 days),
New Orleans (where we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Com-
manders Palace restaurant), we even went to a really good restaurant in, of all
places, the Bass Pro Shop in Memphis, Tennessee, with a great view of the
mighty Mississippi River, thanks to our friends and Club residents, Rochelle
and Ken McLeod! All in all, we had a really good time, and we were glad to
get back home. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park
