Hi Neighbors
Many thanks to all of our PenPal volunteers as the first batch of letters
have been sent and received by the kids at Woodbridge Elementary
School. When we dropped off the most recent letters, one of the
teachers shouted to her class “We’ve got mail” to cheers from all the
kids. We also added a small surprise with each letter and this time it
was a ‘make your own Thanksgiving bookmark’ which we assembled
together (see photos). The PenPal program is a very easy way to get
involved, help the kids practice writing, and to make a connection to a
special friend.
If you would like to volunteer, there are other opportunities
available. We help the teachers with projects we can do from home,
use your donations to provide needed supplies from their wish lists,
and we can help in the classroom as volunteer aides or as reading
tutors. One exciting new option is to volunteer to lead an art class
once a month. It is easy and fun and you don’t have to be an
artist! Lesson plans and materials are provided for you. The kids will
love it ( and you )!
Please contact us if you would like to know more.
