What Will You Read This Year?
How many books do you read each year? Since the pandemic, many community members have returned
to reading for enjoyment and entertainment but also achieving a sense of connection. Did you know
there are other health benefits for making reading a daily habit?
According to healthline.com research shows that regular reading:
improves brain connectivity.
increases your vocabulary and comprehension.
empowers you to empathize with other people.
aids in sleep readiness.
lowers blood pressure and heart rate.
fights depression symptoms.
prevents cognitive decline as you age.
We all might benefit from selecting a good book from The Retreat Library this month and every month for 2022. It's easy, stop by The Re-
treat Library, browse the collection, take a title or two home, and bring the title(s) back when you are finished. No over dues, no harm, no
foul if Fiddo decides to chew the corner.
The volunteers constantly update the collection with newly donated titles and removal of those titles just hanging out. There is an effort to
keep the most recent and longed for titles a part of the collection. If you are thinking of donating books, please donate the most recently
published books to The Retreat Library to have first dibs. If The Retreat Library is unable to add it to the collection, we have several other
resources to donate to. If you have a large quantity of donations from long ago, perhaps consider other drop off sites. The Roseville Public
Library will accept one bag of donations per visit.
It's a new year, it's a new opportunity to resolve to read more. Check out (literally) your Retreat Library and if you
should see volunteers working, say a little thanks too!
