Yvonne grew up on a ranch in San Joaquin County. She
went to U.C. Davis majoring in Consumer Economics and
minoring in art. She met Roy (her husband of 65 years)
while attending U.C. Davis. After receiving her California
teaching credential she taught at Bella Vista High School,
Woodland Jr. High and Woodland Adult Education clas-
ses. After moving to Chico she used her art and interior
design background to start her own business, “A Special
Touch Interiors”. She has a love of gardening and flower
arranging, stemming from the time she was home raising their four children.
Since moving here she signed up for a watercolor class with Linda Casella.
Before the class she avoided watercolor because the results always seemed
muddy. Since then she enjoys being able to take her paints while on their
many travels. She loves to create things including “phone homes”, handker-
chief greeting cards and flower arrangements around the house. The “phone
homes” are little crocheted bags that can be worn over the shoulder or
strapped around the waist. The handkerchief greeting cards are drawings
with a handkerchief for the skirt.
Yvonne takes part in the drama group. Most recently she was in 12 Angry
Jurors. One of her favorite parts was Norma Hubley in Plaza Suite. She also
plays bocce and bridge at The Club.
She volunteers time with her church and with PEO and is a past president of
PEO. PEO is a philanthropic organization that supports women in education.
If you spot Yvonne’s beautiful smile engaged in our community, stop and
say “Hi” and be thoroughly entertained by a very engaging woman.
