harden them before transplanting outdoors. Burdock is very easy to grow and can
take over if left untended. Cut off the flowers before they make seeds to help control
the spread of greater burdock.
Harvesting Greater Burdock
Harvest greater burdock leaves for eating as needed. The root must be dug up
before it shrivels at the end of the first year. Once it has produced seeds, I dig the
roots. In late autumn, the roots become very fibrous and less desirable.
Black-Eyed Susan for the Immune System
Black-eyed Susan is an immune-stimulant that is equivalent and sometimes
superior to echinacea. It is excellent for treating minor illnesses and for
strengthening the immune system to prevent infections.
