An Official Surrender
Narration Told by Willy W Mack Williams
The Indians walked up to William. One of the
Indians said
“We Surrender.” They said. “We go to West. We face
heavy casualties.” One Indian then talked to the Indian
who was speaking. They were talking in Navajo. The
Indian who was speaking then turned around to the other
Indians and spoke more Navajo, then the Indians then
left.
As the Indians proceeded to walk away, the
colonists showed no disrespect. When the Indians went
out of sight, some colonists began to shout and cheer, but
Captain Thomas and William motioned for them to stop
cheering, as it was a time of rebuilding and healing, not
celebration. They were happy that there was not a fight,
