P. 5
Dear Men’s Golf League,
The Tournament Committee, in an effort to “level the playing
field” in our Men’s League Golf Tournaments, has adopted a
tournament point system, based on Section 10-3 of the USGA
Handicap System Manual.
The Tournament Points system is based on awarding points
to net finishers in the majority of our Men’s League
Tournaments. These would include, for example, Member-
Member, President’s Cup and Two Man Challenge.
Examples of tournaments not included, would be a Par 3
event, and any tournament where you are not playing your
own ball throughout the event.
Finishers in the tournaments that count will be awarded
three (3) points to the individual, or all of the team members,
finishing in first place. Two (2) points will be given to second
place finishers, and one (1) point for third place. Points are
accumulated over a two-year period and are recalculated
before each tournament from your current USGA handicap.
This accumulation will be retroactive to January 1, 2019.
Once a player accumulates ten (10) points in any two-year
period, his handicap for a tournament will be reduced by One
stroke for tournaments ONLY! For each additional
five (5) points accumulated, one (1) additional stroke
reduction will be taken. These deductions will ONLY be
used during the Men’s League tournaments and will not
affect the player’s USGA handicap index.
The Committee believes the tournament point system will
make our tournaments more competitive and give more
players a chance to finish at the top.
Questions about the tournament point system and how and
when it will be applied should be directed to the Golf Shop.
Sincerely,
Men’s Tournament Committee
