Start to Write 1
Note to the Reader
START to WRITE 1 is a beginning writing text for English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
students who have had little or no previous training in English composition. It aims at
the initial development of academic writing skills, introducing students to the writing of
simple paragraphs as well as basic punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure.
START to WRITE 1 is designed for the second semester students of University, and
arranged in twelve lessons, of which each lesson contains a number exercises and practices
of simple composition to be done by students either done in the class or as homework.
START to WRITE 1 is mostly taken from the student’s book of PLEASE WRITE (unknown
sources). It gives an important role to students in practicing their ability to express their ideas
and to convey message to readers. The purpose of writing in this book is the expression of
ideas, the conveying of messages to readers, so the ideas themselves should arguably be seen
as the most aspect of writing.
