COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE PLAN / Community Infrastructure 2016 - 2026
of space for this locality should be explored. While the opportunity in Moulden and Woodro e to acquire suitable land for a facility has expired, the opportunity for a joint partnership to provide suitable space would be a suitable and desirable outcome.
It is recommended Council inves gate public/private partnership with exis ng space provider. Opportuni es for the provision of a community and youth space in the short term should be explored at the following facility:
Palmerston Corps (Salva on Army) - Corner of Woodro e Ave and Temple Terrace
- Capacity of between 50-80 patrons depending on ac vity;
- Includes kitchene e, bathroom facili es, and movable sea ng;
- Currently u lised by facility provide along with other groups by appointment;
- Opportunityexistsforincreasedpatronagesubjecttotheac vityaligningwiththecurrent management prac ces.
The facility loca on proves desirable in terms of servicing the catchment and while not within an ac vity centre, is adequately serviced by public transport. Ini al consulta on suggests the operator would consider further patronage should the ac vi es integrate with the exis ng opera on. The above provision model for exis ng centre would result in a lower capital cost for Council and improve community rela onships while promo ng capacity building within exis ng centres.
RECOMMENDATION
INVESTIGATE THE POSSIBILITY OF ESTABLISHING A PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP WITH AN EXISTING SPACE PROVIDER TO MEET DESIRED STANDARDS OF SERVICE (LOCAL) FOR THE MOULDEN AND WOODROFFE LOCALITY.
