They bear fruit even when
they are old; they are filled
with vitality and have many
leaves. (Psalms 92:14)

The Cedar is a famous
tree of Lebanon. It is
delicate, smooth, hard and durable. It’s aroma has a very high
medicinal value. The temple of God in Jerusalem was made of cedar
trees in the time of King Solomon. Because of its characteristics, the
cedar has become a symbol of greatness, of nobility, of strength, and
of incorruptibility.

For this reason I choose “Cedar’s Fellowship” for the name of our
church senior member’s fellowship. There is hope inside it, also a
prayer too.

It is my hope that even as they age and become weaker physically,
they would keep growing spiritually. As seniors, they have travelled
the long journey of life and have experienced God’s grace upon grace.
In their old age, they have so many things to share about God, His
wisdom, His love and goodness. They are still able to testify to the
next generation through their words and good example.

I pray that the senior members of our church will be like cedar
trees: bearing fruit and filled with vitality in their old age, glorifying
God’s name in and through His church. Amen.
