A Spirit at One with Nature: Artist Carol Kao
I paint because I like to paint; due to my enthusiasm and fondness for poetic things, my art comes forth from my innermost soul.
I try to use ink and wash, watercolors, and oil paints to represent the joy, steadiness, serenity, splendor, and other positive feelings I have experienced
in real life on the canvas or paper, allowing me to share my emotional experiences with others and achieve the essence of art: truth, beauty, and goodness.
As an interpreter of Nature's deep affection, I admire Nature's vast breadth and depth. According to the Japanese painter H. Kanako, "While human
thinking is shallow and limited, nature is hidden yet boundlessly rich. Nature teaches us, and helps us to discover many things. Because of this, I not only
personally portray the things of Nature, but also obtain the attitude I use when making paintings directly from Nature." I take Nature as my teacher, and
use the process of sketching and painting to create and shape scenes, explore their mystery, capture the Earth's magic and life, and imbue it with culture.
By evoking a Nature full of love, I ensure that my works are approachable, appealing, and evocative local overtones. My colors are bright and joyous,
and I hope that my confident colors will help give society positive energy.
I graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University forty years ago. I have taken it upon myself to never violate my
original aspirations, and always seek to enhance the substance of my works as I wander in the realm of painting. I see the publication of this sixth album
of my works as a reminder of the beginning of a new stage in my life. I hope that everyone is generous with their comments and encouragement, so that I
may share their wisdom and continue to work even harder in the fields of art. Thank you!
