Announcing Individual Development Plans
In last month’s issue, we discussed the importance of employee development. The month of September
brings the launch of Individual Development Plans or IDPs to all our MIL employees.
An IDP is a tool to assist employees in career and personal development. Its primary purpose is to help
employees reach short and long-term career goals, as well as improve current job performance. An IDP is
not a performance evaluation tool or a one-time activity. It should be looked at as a partnership between
the employee and the supervisor. It involves preparation and continuous feedback.
IDP templates will be distributed to all employees on Monday, October 3. You will work with your direct
reports to complete their IDP over the next month. Completed IDPs are due by November 4.
