Reflecting on MIL Wins

        CHS: Mentoring Program
In early 2022, Division 10 leadership developed and kicked off a mentoring program
that provides formal one-on-one mentoring to foster a culture of learning, growth,
and development for the teams. The mentoring program is open to all staff, regardless
of role or experience, and formalizes a structure for mentors/mentees to connect
on a regular basis to discuss specific areas that are most important to the mentee’s
development. To date, seven mentees have participated in the program and feedback
has been overwhelmingly positive from the mentors and mentees. In a recent survey,
one mentee described their experience as “fantastic” and “invaluable.” “I feel
reenergized with my career growth and self-confidence.” As the program continues to
grow in 2023, Division 10 is expecting to more than double the number of participants.
Benefits in engagement are already being felt and the investments we’re making into each
other perfectly fit with MIL’s motto of “People Making the Difference.”- Jon Nehman

HR: IDP Initiative: Teamwork at its Best!

Individual Development Plans (IDPs) were successfully implemented in Fall 2022.
With a focus on retention, MIL Executive Leadership recognizes that each team
member feels valued and invested in when their development is a priority.
Planning, coordination, and teamwork came together perfectly to support this
initiative. The HR team developed the form, trained managers and direct reports, and
updated our HR platform to house the IDPs. Supervisors attended training and were
encouraged to discuss each direct report’s development goals and give coaching and
support. This occurred at the end of the fiscal year for some of our clients, which made
full implementation more challenging. Time was limited, but everyone came together
to achieve our goal. Congratulations on achieving an 80 percent IDP completion rate
        across our organization!

        Looking Head

Setting clear, motivating, and attainable goals for your team connects their work with the goals of the organization
and doing this effectively underpins every other element of your role. Team alignment supports you in coaching
employees, prioritizing initiatives, strengthening collaboration, and maintaining healthy team dynamics.

Questions to reflect on with your team
» What blocked our success as a team?
» Were there external factors at play?
» Is there something we could have foreseen but didn’t?
» What have we learned through this experience?

You want to create a safe space where employees feel comfortable to share their honest perspectives, so you can
effectively move forward as a team.
