This is LOUIS F. FOY and his wife who live on
the Trent River at Pollocksville, N.C. where
LOUIS is a State Judge. The Trent River is
historical to the Foy family as that is the area
where Thomas Foy and his sons lived. The
whole area around Pollocksville is full of Foy
history. Right behind LOUIS FOY’s house is
the Trent River and right across the river from
his house are thousands of acres which once belonged to ancestors of our Foy family. The day
after this photo was taken we drove across the river back into the woods to a lonely family
cemetery which contained several Foy graves, one of which is ENOCH FOY’s, LOUIS’
ancestor.
Pollocksville is named after Governor Pollock of North Carolina. You will recall it was in
Pollocksville where James Madison Foy of Sweetwater, TX fame was captured in the Civil
War. The next photo is of Mary Pollock. Mary is descended from Governor Pollock. She is
also descended from Thomas Foy. She has done extensive Foy research. Note the locket around
her neck. On it is a hand painted portrait of Thomas Foy who owned an Inn on the Trent
River near Pollocksville in the 1700s. That locket has been passed down through Mary’s Foy
family side.
