had discovered.
A CHANGE OF FORMAT FOR THE BOOK, FOYS WHO CAME TO TEXAS:
The accumulation of data regarding the extensive FOY family in America which
resulted from the FOY website and its supporters totally changed the FOY family
picture and made my task in writing this book more difficult. Each week more
information about the FOYs is discovered and there seems to be no ending as more and
more researchers contribute the results of their work.
Therefore, you will note, this book IS NOT bound in the usual book form. Instead, it
is purposefully organized in a loose leaf notebook format. The purpose of choosing that
format is to periodically alter, elaborate and add FOY information to the book as it
becomes available.
As information is received from various researchers and has been checked for its
accuracy and place in FOY history it will be compiled and periodically mailed out in
the form of additional pages or substitute pages to be added at the appropriate places
in the book.
As the tree grows, so grows the book.
FINAL TREE POEM;
As a kid growing up in Abilene, Texas in the 1940s I attended Fair Park grade school.
In that school our teachers made us memorize poetry and one of the poems I remember
as being a favorite was by GEORGE POPE MORRIS which partially reads as follows:
Woodman, spare that tree.
Touch not a single bough.
In youth it protected me.
And, I’ll protect it now.
Through this book it is my hope you, the reader, will come to appreciate your family
tree and that you and I together can preserve and expand it for those that follow.
