Victory Rally Argentina - 4th - 8th August 1987
After the Acropolis Rally, TO 82978F was re- prepared ready to be shipped off to Buenos Aires, Argentina ready for the rally. Once again TO 82978F would be allocated for Biasion who would be joined by local hero Jorge Recalde, teammates Alen and Kankkunen would be missing from the entry list.
With the local rally being based in Cordoba, some six hours from the capital. It would be Recalde who took the initial lead from stage one, putting
local advantage to good use.
Biasion would take the lead from stage four and would hold this lead all the way till the end, under constant pressure from Recalde.
Lancia was the only major team to venture to Argentina with the exception of VW with the front wheel drive Golf GTI's. The advantage of all wheel drive on the Argentine surface would be clear with the Lancia's being over 25 minutes quicker by the finish compared to the third place VW of Erwin Weber. Biasion's victory would put him into the lead of the world championship.
