The Consuls General of China and India, and
the Deputy Consul General of Japan also represented
their countries as ASEAN Dialogue Partners.
In her welcome remarks, Consul General Ma.
Theresa B. Dizon-de Vega emphasized the importance
of ASEAN as a growing global economic power. She
also shared recent developments in the Philippines'
chairmanship of ASEAN, including the recently
concluded ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM) held in
Manila last 2-8 August.
The Consulates General and Consulates of
Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand,
and Vietnam were joined by the Permanent Missions to
the UN of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar in
organizing the event to celebrate ASEAN's 50th year
and to promote friendship and camaraderie among Deputy Permanent Representative (DPR) Siti Arnyfariza Jaini of Brunei, DPR Savann Ke of
ASEAN Consular and Mission personnel in New York. Cambodia, DPR Maythong Thammvongsa of Laos, Consul General Abdul Kadir Jailani of
Indonesia, Consul General Jeremiah Oliver Jitos of Malaysia, Counselor Nang Phyu Sin
Than Myint of Myanmar, Consul General Ma. Theresa B. Dizon-de Vega of the Philippines,

PH Business and Tourism Highlight Fiesta in America 2017
Filipinos and mainstream US visitors in the US Northeast flocked to the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus,
New Jersey to witness the 2017 Fiesta in America from 12-13 August 2017
Fiesta in America, now on its 19th year, brings together Philippine and Philippine-American businesses for a 2-day
Expo to promote increased economic engagement between the Philippines and the US. The Fiesta likewise provides
business and entrepreneurial seminars, talks, and promotion opportunities for participants.
The Fiesta in America is the largest of its kind in the US Northeast and as an added attraction also includes a cultural
program showcasing top Filipino and Filipino-American talents. This year’s entertainment theme was Philippine pop music
from the 1970s featuring performances by Rey Valera, Novan Belleza, Jessica Sanchez, Music and Magic, and VST and
Company.
