Manual evacuation – by competently
trained staff only.
Transferring and Assistance with
Mobility
Assistance with mobility may
involve supporting the customer to:
•
Transfer in and out of a chair, bed,
shower, bath or vehicle
•
Use mobility equipment
•
Turn over in bed.
Skin Care Tasks May Include:
•
Applying creams
•
Pressure area care
•
Basic first aid (plasters over cuts,
cleaning scrapes, etc.).
Foot Care
Foot care can only be performed by
a qualified person (e.g. podiatrist).
Wound Care
Wound care is a clinical service that
can only be performed by Enrolled
Nurses (EN) with the current
competencies and Registered
Nurses (RN).
70 Wound Management
Wound management is a
specialist clinical nursing duty that
is only to be provided by qualified
nursing staff. Staff trained in
First Aid can attend to basic cuts
and abrasions in line with their
training. If you are unsure, contact
your Coordinator.
You should also contact your
Coordinator immediately if you
notice a change in the wound.
Transport
Getting out and about is a huge part of
everyday life for our customers. Being
able to get around means retaining
control over those aspects of life that
need regular attention, like going to
the shops, getting to work or school,
plus fun stuff like meeting up with
friends.
Just Better Care also assists with
mobility at events, celebrations and
special occasions such as sporting
games, concerts and festivals or
support when holidaying.
Just Better Care provides transport
and mobility support services
including:
•
Going shopping, to the library, the
bank and other errands
•
Meeting up with friends
•
Attending medical appointments
•
Getting to work or school
•
Playing or watching sport
•
Special events.
