End-of-life (Palliative) Care
Spending the final days of life at home
can bring much comfort and relief, both
for the person who is dying and their
family. Just Better Care end-of-life care
is compassionate and discreet, and your
support will assist families to find the
balance between hands-on help and
quiet time.
End-of-life care may include:

Nursing care
Medication and pain management
Preparing meals
Respite for carers
Reassurance and emotional support
Overnight or around-the-clock support
Personal care
Domestic assistance.
People usually use end-of-life care in
conjunction with other service providers,
such as a palliative care team, doctor or
other qualified person who will prepare
a detailed support plan. Just Better Care
will assign a Coordinator to coordinate
between this extended team and all
Community Support Professionals
involved.
It is important to be aware of end-of-
life plans, including who should be first
contacted should the customer rapidly
deteriorate or die. All relevant details
will be contained within the customer’s
Healthcare Plan or as otherwise arranged
with the customer, their family and their
palliative support team. If you are ever in
any doubt, contact your Coordinator.
Disability Services
Just Better Care Australia and
its franchise network work with
people with disability to assist
them to achieve their goals,
empowering customers by
putting individual preferences and
support needs at the centre of our
approach.
A customer with disability
may choose to have a range of
services, for example personal
care, domestic assistance and
social support. Each service will be
individualised and specific to the
person’s needs.
Some customers with disability
may also require specialised
services such as using a variety of
communication methods, positive
behaviour plans and specific
manual handling techniques.
Sleepover
A sleepover is an overnight service
at a customer’s home. The Just
Better Care employee will usually
sleep in a bed in a separate room
and will be available to provide
support during the night, either
on a scheduled or as-needed basis.
For further information about
sleepover rates and allowances,
please refer to your employer’s
workplace instrument.
