A warm welcome to a very special issue of You.
There is nothing more important to us than our people. Our customers, our incredible team members and the communities we love.
That’s why this people- powered issue of You magazine is a particularly special one, with a focus on some amazing individuals who have all chosen to work in the highly rewarding in-home support sector.
They are the wonderful people who support our customers (for many of our readers, that’s You) to retain their independence living in their own home.
You’ll meet a number of members of the broader Just Better Care network, and we invite you to discover something of their fascinating journeys.
It may surprise you to learn
that among our wonderful array
of support workers, nursing
staff, administration teams and Franchise Owners, we have former occupational therapists, retail workers and IT workers as well as ex-pastors and ex-family therapists.
Each of these individuals has switched from their previous occupation to take on a rewarding and fulfilling role in the in-home support sector.
If they have any regrets, it’s only that they wish they had made the move sooner!
On the pages that follow, we also introduce you to Support Worker, Oksana.
Born in the Ukrainian town of Lviv, Oksana worked in finance until the Russian invasion when she and her family were forced to turn their back on everything they knew and migrate to Australia.
Now Oksana shares her incredible story and tells us why Australia feels like home.
We also get to meet Support Worker Tracy and Franchise Manager Simone. These two superstars are some of Just Better Care’s longest-tenure employees, amassing an impressive 50,000 hours of work between them.
As well as learning a little of what motivates them to support others, they also share their background before joining our team, and touch on why neither of them has any intention of slowing down yet.
