he holiday season is so special in every part of Cranford. All of our neighborhoods,
T shopping areas and especially the downtown are brightly lit and brimming with activity
of shoppers and people enjoying wonderful traditions. We are fortunate to have so many
wonderful businesses and organizations that give Cranford its special, inviting character.
This was another remarkable year for downtown as we welcomed new businesses and saw
several existing businesses expand or move to larger spaces. The business district continues
to attract shoppers, diners and visitors from nearby towns and benefit from those living in the
         downtown neighborhood.
The Downtown Management Board and staff look forward to 2018 as we continue
improvements to make the downtown more attractive, safer for pedestrians and an even more
friendly, enjoyable place to visit. Soon, replacement of the 30-year old Victorian light heads
with energy efficient LED will be completed and in the spring, we will finish pouring the new tree
surrounds to eliminate tripping hazards and expand sidewalk space for pedestrians. And, a team
of dedicated professionals and volunteers will conclude work on the Strategic Plan to address and
guide downtown growth, improvements, economic development, public space and pedestrian
issues to position Cranford for continued success.
Sharing news about downtown is our favorite thing so we encourage you to connect with us on
social media for the latest news and announcements. In the meantime, enjoy the holiday sights
and sounds of our community, support our stores, restaurants and services and get to know the
people who also believe in Cranford – our business owners.
On behalf of the Downtown Management Board and staff, we wish our residents, readers,
visitors and business owners a wonderful holiday season.
