We are so undeniably unique in terms of our individual selves. In terms of our journey together as one, nothing can outshine our time at YIS. Surely, all 45 of us are very different from each other. We have different goals in life, different personalities, different preferences, and even different friend circles. But something truly amazing is the fact that when we need to, we can put our differences aside and come together as one. That isn’t an easy thing to do, but somehow it just works out perfectly. We fight and work hard for anything that we truly want, and we always get it. We always got it. But of course, it only took a pandemic to break this streak. No, 2020 is not a good year so far. Not just for us, but for everyone around the world. So much suffering and so many incidents happened that it just breaks hearts. Of course, these global- scale incidents are disappointing and cause concern in many people’s minds. Still, seniors like us probably take this year a little more personally. Our last three months of school were taken away from us, and no one could do anything about it. The last time riding the elevator, the last high school lunch, the last class, and the last day of being a typical high schooler. These are experiences that we actually prepare ourselves for beforehand, but we experienced them already, unknowingly. Also, a legendary senior prank, senior trip, Week Without Walls, and memorable school events. We couldn’t get it. We studied hard, went through mountains of struggles, overcame fears, and dissolved our emotions for the past 13 years. Now, we come across the fact that we can’t even get the graduation we wanted so badly. It feels like swimming up to the surface of the ocean from rock bottom but not being able to touch the air we longed to caress.
