We are in very Troubled Times
That mark the Social, Cultural and Historical space

While some may believe the Confederate Flag
By the Founding Fathers Is about Heritage and Not Hate
Many of whom may have known The Reality speaks Otherwise
Of the Toxic Contradictions This flag can never represent
The Rich diversity and Dynamic heritage of southern folk
That would poison the future of this great land
Where the African American Experience has played a Central Role
From a Failed Reconstruction
A Compromised Civil Rights Movement Burn and Bury
And a Thwarted Black Power Movement Let it go Let it go
Burn and Bury
To silenced Affirmation Action
The Whites over Blacks
And the countless Lynchings
Occurrences of Police Brutality Burn and Bury
And instances of injustices in between Let it go Let it go
We see the Consistent Resistance Burn and Bury
The Systematic Attacks
To social respect and Justice
We are in Haunted times
If We Cannot resolve the issue of the Confederate flag
Where Race and Blackness Something we Can See and Touch
Are debated and presented like Magic How can we as a nation process the complex things we can Not See?
As We continue to fly this flag
Tricking our Best Minds
Is not only Passive-Aggressive and disrespectful
But it promotes Visual Terrorism
Burn and Bury And if Black People and sympathetic others
Let it go Let it go Are not in Constant Resistance
Burn and Bury And Protest of such symbols
Then we Run the Risk of sending the Wrong Signal
The Pain and The Woe
The Confederate Flag flying
The Fergusons
Burn and Bury The Eric Gardners
Let it go Let it go And the cases like Baltimore are powerful examples
That Show there is a consistent lack of respect for black people
Burn and Bury
And where there is No Respect
The Stars and Bars- No Mo
There is No Justice
And then No Peace
We are in War Times

Where Racial Deflection

And White Supremacy
Burn and Bury
And Privilege are on one side
All that divide
And Black Poverty
And Mass Incarceration Burn and Bury

And Double Consciousness

And on the other.
All that have died
