Chapter 17
Frustration
Introduction
Someone has just offered you a delicious treat. So you ask to see the ingredients and read the label thoroughly like you do every time. So far, so good. Then, there it is - those few little words at the bottom saying “may contain [your allergen].” You know the feeling. We all do. And you’re probably pretty used to it. But sometimes you still can’t help thinking that it’s unfair.
Maybe your friends want to check out an exotic new restaurant and you don’t want to let them down. But you’re pretty sure it’ll be an allergen fest. Maybe your teacher brings in snacks for the entire class and they are full of your allergen. You feel both unsafe and left out. Maybe you really want to travel. But, in the country you want to visit, awareness about food allergies seems basically nonexistent and they speak a foreign language. Having allergies can certainly be frustrating in many situations.
