Hilary Branson Hi Cinda, unfortunately I couldn't make it out there. I
did see him earlier this month in Vienna, VA. It's odd to see him and not
recognize any of the other fans. How was the Madison show?? Gail Bradley 4h

Cinda Coggins Mosher It was really, really good. It was a small venue
(80 people), and he and Glen had great sets separately and together. I Judy Blackwell
got to talk to him before the show and at intermission. He looked really
good and was friendly. He remembered my name. I gave him a Joe Stefaniak
necklace I bought a long time ago with a photo of Marie Laveau's crypt 2h
on it, and he seemed appreciative. I got two photos with him, one of
which is on my FB page. I like the new album. Great Horned Owl is Dan Falls 1h
now stuck in my head. How was the VA concert?

Hilary Branson Oh that's so great! It's awesome he remembered your Cindy Taylor 54m
name. I'm totally jealous that you got pics with him. The venue he
played at out here was really strange - GPS sent us to a structure in
the middle of a forest preserve with no lights. It was really scary. Cars Billy Tan 3h
were slowly pulling up behind us and we thought they were cops.
Finally, someone pulled next to us, rolled down their window, and said Tami Tan 5h
"help! We're lost!" and I said "Me too!" Eventually, I was able to load
the website for the venue and realized we were supposed to make a
U-turn at some point, and we led the way to the venue a few miles Riley Harville 1h
away. By the time we all got there, the concert had already started, and
we had to wait for them to stop playing to be let in. The staff literally GROUP CONVERSATIONS
tsk-tsk'ed all of us for being late. At this point I was literally shaking -
driving in an un-lit forest preserve does that to me, I guess. The show Create New Group
itself was great. I somehow obtained front-row tickerts. I was really
impressed with Glen Phillips singing with the audience, and Grant,
obviously, was great as well. Unfortunately, the staff at the venue told
everyone in the lobby after the show that Grant and Glen had an early
flight, and couldn't sign stuff, etc, so this was the first show in 14 years
(!!! time flies) that I didn't get a picture with him. Oh well, I am just glad I
made it out of the un-lit forest preserve alive. I am a city girl so that was
seriously scary. Haha.

Cinda Coggins Mosher That would be very disconcerting (ha no pun
intended, but I'll take it). That happened to me once when I was trying
to fly my son from O'Hare to Boston, and I ended up having to leave
before him to go to San Francisco. GPS routed us to the pilot entrance
and we had to be escorted out by police. He missed check in by 45
seconds, and I had to leave him alone in O'Hare on stand by and didn't
know until 5 hours later if he made the standby flight (he did, thank
God). I would not appreciate the staff, either. The one hitch in this
concert is that if was at a Coffee House, and the people continued to
make LOUD coffee through the entire show, even after Grant and Glen
made polite but pointed comments about the sound of the coffee
machines. You can photoshop yourself into my picture if you want. My
first photo with him was in 1995 in Ames when he opened for REM. I
stood outside in 22 degree weather for an hour to meet him, and I did
look like the dork groupie I was. I will scan the photo and send it to you
so you can see the difference (in both of us) this many years later. I
hope he doesn't still think I am a dork groupie, though it's entirely
possible.

Hilary Branson Oh my - ending up at the wrong place due to GPS
while also running late for a flight would be an absolute nightmare. I'm
glad everything worked out with your son. Packed coffee house shows
bug me in more of a socially awkward way, since I always find myself
carrying a gigantic, scalding hot mug of pumpkin spice something, and
having nowhere to sit, awkwardly. Speaking of awkward, you totally
must send me the dork groupie version of you with Grant. My first
photo with Grant was from 1998, when my friend and I had our picture
taken with GLB after a show at Congress Theater in Chicago. The
dorkiest part: my parents aggreed to drive us there since I couldn't
drive yet, and they didn't want us on the El late at night. So, anyway,
there we were, waiting in the alley, dorky me and dorky friend, and
dorky parents... And I am fairly certain I am still the dork groupie, or
maybe the nerdy and/or awkward groupie. Anyway, my friend uploaded
and tagged him in that old photo on here but he removed the tag. I
see he kept your tag. Maybe I should re-upload all of my old photos
with him in a chronological order... and tag him.. for science... but then I
would end up being the "creepy groupie." For science!
